Here’s the breakdown:

Recording = $21,800

 + Engineer/mixing - $500 per song x 12 songs = $6,000

+ Guitar - $500 day rate x 5 days = $2,500

+ Bass - $500 day rate x 5 days = $2,500

+ Drums - $500 day rate x 5 days = $2,500

+ Slide guitar - $500

+ Self pay - $1,500

+ 5 days studio rental - $400 x 5 = $2,000

+ Mastering - $20 per song x 12 + 3 interlude tracks = $300

+ Producer fee - $4,000

Physical Media = $1,043

+ CDs – (atomic disc) 200 CD standard digi-pack =$593.00 + s&h (approx. $20) = $603

+ Cassettes – (second floor recording co., Nashville TN) – 50 casettes = $150 material + $75 labor = $225

+ Download codes (bandcamp) 50 x $0.30 = $15

+ Album Cover Design - $200

Visuals, Distribution/Marketing = $5,700

+ Visualizer/stylized photo shoot = $600 x 5 singles = $3,000

+ Photo shoot for release media = $400 x 3 = $1,200

+ Video/photos for studio week/content = $1,500

TOTAL RECORD COST: $28,543

As you can see, it costs a lot to make a record.

BULLSHARK is completely DIY with no help from a management team, a label, or anyone really, except for our community.

We have partnered with startup company Tipify to crowdfund this album!

Their entire business model hinges around the idea that musicians should be getting paid for their music & they aim to give the fans who want to financially support the bands they like a direct path to do just that.
